A key PS5 feature may have just leaked from an unexpected source

When the PlayStation 5 and Xbox One launch next fall, they’ll be the most powerful consoles ever, and likely among the fastest computers out there. It’s all thanks to three components that both Sony and Microsoft have already discussed, including the AMD-made CPU and GPU chips as well as fast new SSDs. While both companies detailed the massive performance boosts the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett will provide, they haven’t been as forthcoming when it comes to a key component, one that will be of huge importance to buyers next year. Thankfully, that component seems to have leaked already from an unexpected source. Sony has been pretty clear about the PS5’s solid-state drive in recent interviews and even showed off the kind of performance expected from a PlayStation console running an SSD. Waiting for games to load will be an annoyance of the past, Sony teased, without revealing two crucial details about the SSD that will be included in the PS5. How much storage will it have, and what type of SSD are we going to get? Many have speculated that Sony will make a custom SSD that would further improve speeds while simultaneously hindering upgrades. And then there was the whole Sony cartridge pa...

Kenyan women take P&G to task over Always burning pads — Quartz Africa

Last February, Dr. Njoki Ngumi, a Nairobi-based physician and filmmaker, noticed a trending hashtag on her Twitter timeline. Hundreds of women were sharing horror stories of their experiences with Procter & Gamble’s flagship menstrual pads, Always, under the hashtag #myalwaysexperience. One of the first tweets in the thread was by Kenyan activist, Scheaffer Okore, and talked about the huge & painful rashes, itching, severe burning sensation and unpleasant odor that typified her experience using Always pads. As Ngumi scrolled through the hundreds of stories shared under the hashtag, her interest, turned from curiosity to surprise then to disbelief. “I had been using Always for more than two decades—and I assumed that these symptoms, some of which I had, were a normal part of life of using pads.” She wondered how pervasive the issue was, if she as a medical doctor had always taken these symptoms to just a normal part of having one’s period. For decades, a section of women in Kenya using Always had assumed that the issue was their own period, their own flow, their bodies—everything, but the pads that they were using. Awareness of menstrual issues is extremely low in Kenya a...

Best bath toys for babies and toddlers for fun in the tub

Bath time should be fun – that way any little wannabe soap dodgers will feel more compelled to submerge themselves for a scrub up. Toys will keep children occupied – leaving less danger for tiny hands to start making potions out of your favourite Aesop products. Good bath toys should be engaging, hardy, bright, amusing and educational. Many teach cause and effect depending on how the water is used. Others are a means of role play.  But crucially, bath toys should be easy to dry. At the end of a long day it’s tempting to lob all the wet toys back in the basket, or leave them in the bottom of the bath, but that way mould lies. It’s crucial to dry toys off if you want them to last. Bath toys range from the simple to the surreal. From cups to crayons and cakes, these are the best toys for bath time. You can trust our independent reviews. We may earn commission from some of the retailers, but we never allow this to influence selections, which are formed from real-world testing and expert advice. This revenue helps to fund journalism across The Independent. If you balk at the idea of a child with crayons let loose in your bathroom – let us reassure you. These crayons are specifically...

With only 1,350 produced, your chances of seeing the Ford GT Carbon series on the road

With only 1,350 produced, your chances of seeing the Ford GT Carbon series on the road is slim. Thankfully, you can see it in all its glory in photos. In October 2018, the Ford GT Carbon series was introduced to the world at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA). Compared to the Competition model, it is 30 pounds lighter, and although it is also one that is meant to be taken on the track, it still features air conditioning and radio, which aren’t available in the Competition Series. The most appealing thing about this car, though, has to be its awesome design. It’s an extremely limited car, with only 1,350 produced in total. So, if you ever see one on the road, consider yourself a lucky chap. Today, we have decided to bless you with some eye candy as we have compiled a list of 15 beautiful photos of the GT Carbon Series in different environments. You will see it on the track, in the wild, and even being delivered to a lucky customer! We hope you enjoy it! The Ford GT Carbon Series was built to be a great performer on the track, but it can also be an everyday sports car for speed junkies. Nevertheless, the Le Mans-winning car loves to race, and it comes with things s...
